Toivo ja viisaus - hyviä rauhan rakentamisen työvälineitä 

Vastavirta vahvistaa rauhanrakentamisen ääntä ja tuo esiin vaihtoehtoisia eurooppalaisia antimilitaristisia aloitteita sellaisen yhteiskunnan rakentamiseksi, jossa ei ole joukkotuhoaseita eikä sotia.   

RITVA HARLE

Ympäröivä yhteiskunta ja maailmankuva 

Ritva Harle työskentelee ympäristö- ja yhteisötaiteilijana Helsingissä. Harle on aktiivinen monissa taiteilijajärjestöissä mm. PAND Taiteilijat rauhan puolesta -jäsen. Harlelle maailmankuva on yksi tärkeimmistä työkaluista taiteilijana ja rauhanaktivistina. Sillä, miten hän näkee maailman, on vaikutus kaikkiin hänen valintoihinsa ja olemassaoloonsa. 

- Taidetta ei kuitenkaan tehdä korostamalla manifestia. Taide on hienovaraisempi ja monille tulkinnoille avoin väline. Työskentelen tässä ajassa ja paikassa, tietysti ympäröivä yhteiskunta ja maailman tapahtumat ainakin alitajuisesti vaikuttavat tulokseen, sanoo Harle. 

Realistinen toivemaailma 

Ritva Harle on realisti. Harle haaveilee maailmasta, jossa oikeasti aikuiset osaavat ratkaista ongelmia ja valtasuhteita neuvottelujen avulla. Harlen realistisessa toivemaailmassa lasten ei tarvitse koskaan kokea sodan kauhuja eikä ihmistä tai luontoa raiskata. 

- Ehkä tulevaisuuden maailmassa olemme vihdoin oppineet arvostamaan ja kunnioittamaan elämää sen kaikissa ainutlaatuisissa muodoissa. Mielestäni ihmiset, jotka uskovat aseisiin muutoksen voimana ja turvallisuuden takauksena, ovat jättäneet itsensä väärälle vuosituhannelle, sanoo Harle 

Paremman tulevaisuuden työkaluja 

Ritva Harle sanoo, että demokratia on vaarassa ylisuuriksi kasvaneiden ja kansainvälisten yritysten vuoksi. Omistus ja hallinta ovat harvoilla ihmisillä . Raha ratkaisee. Valtioilla ei ole työkaluja vastustaa kansainvälisten yritysten voimaa. 

- Rauha ja demokratia ovat välineitä parempaan tulevaisuuteen. Suomi ja muut Pohjoismaat ovat hyvä esimerkki tästä. Olemme olleet konfliktien ulkopuolella pitkään ja pystyneet kehittämään yhteiskuntiamme rauhassa. YK: n onnellisuusraportin mukaan Suomi on maailman onnellisin maa kolmatta kertaa peräkkäin. Maailma voisi tulla suomalaisemmaksi. Se toisi toivoa paremmasta elämästä. Demokratian ylläpitämiseksi on kuitenkin jatkuvasti tehtävä työtä, sitä ei pidä pitää itsestäänselvyytenä, sanoo Harle. 

Ei uusia HX-hävittäjiä  

Suomessa Sanna Marinin hallituksen kauden aikana hävittäjien hankinnat ovat jatkuvasti esillä. Sanna Marinin hallitus on tehnyt budjettipäätökset, jotka osoittavat vihreää valoa uudelle 64 HX hävittäjän hankinnalle. Tämä tekee nykyisen hallituksen budjetista sotilaallisimman ja suurimman maailmansotien jälkeen. 

- PAND:ille ei riitä uusien sotakonehankintojen lykkääminen covid-19: n takia, me haluamme, että ne hylätään kokonaan, toteaa rauhanaktivisti Ritva  Harle 

Ydinaseiden kielto 

Kiitos Hondurasille, joka allekirjoitti sopimuksen ydinaseiden kieltämisestä (TPNW). Sopimus voi tulla voimaan tammikuussa. 

- PAND suunnittelee parhaillaan kutsuvan ihmisiä tapahtumaan 22. tammikuuta 2021. Tilaisuudessa vaaditaan Suomea allekirjoittamaan YK:n ydinaseet kieltävän sopimus, kertoo Harle. 

Keskustelua suomeksi 21.11.

Ennen englanninkielistä keskustelua rauhan asioista käydään keskustelua suomeksi. Itämeri, HX-hävittäjät, globalisaatio ja äärioikeisto ovat keskeisiä teemoja rauhan webinaarissa. Mukana rauhaa rakentamassa ovat Rauhanpuolustajien toiminnanjohtaja Teemu Matinpuro, tutkija Jouko Jokisalo ja Naiset Rauhan Puolesta sekä Naiset Ydinvoimaa Vastaan aktiivi Ulla Klötzer. Tilaisuuden fasilitaattori on rauhanaktivisti Mervi Grönfors.  

Suomenkielisen rauhan vastavirtatilaisuuden tapahtumapaikka on Kulttuuritalo Annis, Annankatu 6, Pori. Tilaisuus on myös verkkokeskustelu eli webinaarin ja siihen voi osallistua FB:ssa Vastavirta tapahtumat / Rauhan webinaari.

Hope and Wisdom – good tools for Peace Building

Surrounding Society and Worldview 

Ritva Harle works as environmental and community artist in Helsinki. Harle is active in many artists organizations and member of PAND Artists for Peace organization. 

Harle feels that worldview is her most important tool as artist and peace activist. How she sees the world has an effect to all of her choices and existence. 

- However, art can´t be made by underlining manifesto. Art is a more subtle and ambiguous medium. I work in this time and place, of course the surrounding society and world events at least subconsciously affect the outcome. Some say that credible concept of defence is based on the idea of "management by fear", says Harle 

Realist Dream World 

Ritva Harle is realist. Harle dreams of a world where real adults know how to solve problems and power relations through negotiation. In Harles realist dream world, child will never have to experience the horrors of war. No human being or nature will be raped as a part of the hostilities.  

- Maybe in this future world we finally have learned to value and respect life in all its unique forms. In my opinion people who believe in guns as a force for change and guarantee of safety have left the themselves in the wrong millennium. says Harle 

Capacity for Change 

Ritva Harle believes in the classic idea - love is all you need. Harle likes to debate with different people about art, activism and future. Harles favourite word is Muutoskykykapasiteetti. It translates in English as - Capacity for Change. 

- It is good to build peace with people who love life. I especially trust young people and grandmothers. Hope and wisdom is a good covenant, says Harle. 

Covid and Climate Change 

Right now, people are afraid of what future with of Covid –19 will bring and many have anxiety about climate change.  

- If we believe in the media, then we should also be afraid of immigrants, obesity, aging, poor fitness, the sun, hard fat, etc. And, of course, we have been afraid of Russia for decades. Behind the fear, is an economic system based on constant growth in consumption. To achieve an apparent sense of security, it is easy to sell anything from guns to beauty surgeries, says Harle. 

People-centred worldview 

Ritva Harle says that “In real-world there is only one defence force needed to protect the diversity of life and to combat climate change.  According to Harle we must abandon the people-centred worldview.” 

- This (left-green-centre government in Finland government) has the best program for protecting the diversity of life and fighting against climate change in a long time, but it is still a compromise. The steps are going in the right direction, but maybe they should be taken sooner. An individual can make sensible choices to abandon the people-centred worldview, in their daily lives, but the most important thing is to connect with other people and work together for change. Politicians and markets also smell the direction of the wind. They do not dare to act against the majority of people, believes Harle. 

According to Harle the peace movement should be even more allied with the environmental movement.  

- Every conflict also brings with it the destruction of the environment. The mere existence of a military force creates destruction with all its exercises and other activities that burden the environment, says Harle 

Tools for better future 

Ritva Harle says that Democracy is in danger because of overgrown and transnational corporations. According to Harle few people have ownership and control. Money talks. States haven´t tools to oppose the power of transnational corporations. 

- Peace and democracy are tools for better future. Finland and the other Nordic countries are a good example of this. We have been out of conflict for a long time and have been able to develop our societies in peace. According to the UN Happiness Report, Finland is the happiest country in the world for the third time in a row. The world could become more Finnish. It would bring hope for a better life. However, there is a constant need to work to maintain democracy, it must not be taken for granted, says Harle. 

According to Harle collecting of data brings unnecessary insecurity into life and erodes social trust. Harle proposes more control over the big companies. 

- We need to take big companies under better control and improve legislation. We mustn't have to put up with big giants. We need to demand that they be broken down into smaller pieces. I also miss easy-to-use European social media platforms. 

No to HX Air Fighters 

In Finland during this government term of Sanna Marin government, fighter acquisitions are constantly acute. Sanna Marin government has made budget decisions that show green light for a new 64 HX air fighter deal in Finland. This makes current government's budget the most military and biggest since world war budgets.   

- For PAND (Performers and Artist for Nuclear Disarmament – Artist for Peace) it is not enough to postpone new war machine purchases because of covid-19, we want them to be abandoned altogether, states pace activist Harle. 

Nuclear Weapons Prohibition 

Thanks Honduras that signed Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, (TPNW) It is possible for the agreement at enter into force in January. 

- PAND is currently planning to invite people to an event on 22 January 21 where we will demand that Finland sign the agreement, informs and invites Harle.
