Tromsø resolution for Peace and against Trident Juncture
Representatives of the Communist Parties of Russia, Norway, Finland and Denmark had their traditional North Calotte Meeting of their Nordic party branches in Tromsø Norway on 1 st and 2 nd September 2018.
Chairperson of the Communist Party of Finland JP (Juha-Pekka) Väisänen spoke in Tromsø Calotte meeting of the Nordic Communist Parties. Väisänen called Nordic parties for a Marxist joint action that brings the policy to the streets, into the social media and where the people are.
- Together with the international peace movement we can fight back the black imperialism and militarism painting white actions of peace. We can show what is behind EU Permanent Structured Cooperation (PESCO), Host Nation Agreement, Jeff, Intervention Initiative of the French and Swedish-Finnish-US military collaboration trilateral Statement of Intent (SOI) and the international military exercises, says Väisänen in Tromsø.
Chairperson Väisänen finds the collaboration in the High North in between the Nordic Communist Parties party branches and ohters unsatified with the austerity policy, capitalism and imperialism very necessary.
- We need a Marxist Nordic tool that bring our politics to the streets, into the social media and where the people are. For that we need concrete action that unites us. We have policy that we agree on; we are anti-imperialist and anti-capitalists. We all see the EU structures as structures that oppress workers. There is no question that we are the Nordic antimilitary and anti-NATO-force, says chairperson of the Communist Party of Finland JP (Juha-Pekka) Väisänen
Calotte Conference Resolution 2018
Representatives of the Communist Parties of Russia, Norway, Finland and Denmark had
their traditional North Calotte Conference in Troms Norway on 1 st and 2 nd September 2018.
The Conference noted that the activation of NATO on the Arctic threatens the peace and security in this area. One example of the increased activity is the great Trident Juncture NATO war games in October and November. The main activities are in Norway, but the air space and land areas of Sweden and Finland are also used. Thirty countries and more than 40 000 soldiers and a great number of ships and airplanes are taking part in this exercise.
We are supporting the upcoming demonstrations in Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland against the war games. The Conference requires that Norway and Denmark must leave NATO, Sweden and Finland must cancel their agreements with NATO. The whole Arctic area must become a non-nuclear zone and eventually be de-militarized.
Instead of confrontations we demand peaceful and mutually profitable co-operation between the Arctic countries. The sanctions against Russia must be withdrawn. It is necessary to work against demonization, stereotypes and falsification of history especially in relation to politics between East and West.
We support the “people’s diplomacy –essential for peace “project which was initiated in the conference. This is co-operation between the common folk and their own organizations, in order to strengthen peaceful coexistence.
