Suomalaiset veronmaksajat joutuvat maksamaan tuhat miljoonaa euroa muille Euroopan unionin maille. Syynä ovat Suomen metsäyhtiöiden suuret hakkuut, joiden seurauksena metsät ovat muuttuneet hiilinielujen sijasta päästölähteiksi. Arvion mukaan Suomessa elävistä kasveista ja eläimistä 2 667 lajia on uhanalaisia. Suurin osa näistä tarvitsee metsiä selviytyäkseen.
