Webinaarissa 5.12. klo 17-19 käsitellään ympäristöön, ihmisoikeuksiin ja äärioikeiston liittyviä ajankohtaisia kysymyksiä. Liity keskusteluun Zoomissa tämän linkin kautta.
Englanninkielisen webinaarin puhujina ovat Liisa Taskinen, Suomen kommunistisen puolueen varapuheenjohtaja, Olga Athaniti, näyttelijä, radiotuottaja, Euroopan vasemmiston maahanmuutto työryhmän johtaja ja Kreikan vasemmistopuolueen SYRIZA:n jäsen sekä Brasilian Causa Operária – työväenluokan vallankumouksellisen puolueen jäsen Fabio Picchi
Tapahtuman puheenjohtajana toimii Tiina Sandberg, Suomen kommunistisen (SKP) pääsihteeri.
Painopisteenä ympäristö
Ilmastonmuutosta on aina ollut, lajit ovat kadonneet ja ilmestyneet, myös me, Homo sapiens. Liisa Taskisen mukaan muutoksen sykli on ollut 150 000–100 000 vuotta. Taskinen sanoo, että viimeisen sadan vuoden aikana me ihmiset olemme onnistuneet aiheuttamaan muutoksia, jotka ovat vaikuttaneet koko ekosysteemiin, ilmastoon ja elinoloihin maailmanlaajuisesti.
Lääkäri, aktivisti ja poliitikko
Liisa Taskinen on 68-vuotias lääkäri. Taskinen jäi eläkkeelle vuosi sitten 40 vuoden kovan ja vaativan, mutta myös erittäin palkitsevan työn jälkeen.
Huolestuneiden politiikka
Liisa Taskinen on huolestunut jatkuvasta ilmaston lämpenemisestä, ympäristökriisistä, maapallon ja koko ihmiskunnan tulevaisuudesta. Taskisen mukaan ympäri maailmaa on monia eri ryhmiä, järjestöjä, kansalaisjärjestöjä, poliittisia puolueita ja yksilöitä jotka ovat huolestuneita ympäristökriisistä.
Kaikki osa ympäristökriisiä
Liisa Taskisen mukaan tämän valtavan ongelman – ympäristökriisin ratkaisemisen on lähtökohtana kaikelle mitä teemme ja sanomme. Jos emme ratkaise ilmasto- ja ympäristökriisiä, emme voi saavuttaa parempaa ja oikeudenmukaisempaa maailmaa, rauhaa, ihmisten yhdenvertaisuutta. Fanaattisten ilmastonmuutoksen kieltäjien kanssa Taskinesen mielestä on hyödytöntä antautua väittelyihin, epäilijöihin voi olla mahdollista vaikuttaa.
Päätöksiä kaikilla tasoilla
Suomessa on ihmisiä ja poliittisia voimia, jotka sanovat, että Suomessa on jo tehty tarpeeksi ilmaston lämpenemisen estämiseksi ja ympäristökriisien ratkaisemiseksi, ja että nyt on suurvaltojen aika toimia.
– Mielestäni päätöksiä on tehtävä kaikilla tasoilla. Yksityinen henkilö voi päättää syödä vähemmän lihaa, lopettaa halpojen, Aasiassa alipalkattujen naisten ompelemien kertakäyttövaatteiden ostaminen, välttää henkilöautolla ajamista ja lentämistä ja muutenkin ostaa vähemmän tavaraa ja kierrättää mahdollisimman paljon . Tällä kaikella on merkitystä, Taskinen sanoo.
Reilut ratkaisut
Liisa Taskinen sanoo, että ilman ympäristökriisien oikeudenmukaista ratkaisemista ei ole rauhaa, tasa-arvoa, demokratiaa.
– Jos pystymme pysäyttämään ilmaston lämpenemisen ja ekologisen kriisin, voimme myös pitää kaikki asutut alueet edelleen asuttavina ja viljeltävinä sekä parantaa siellä elinoloja ja siten alentaa syntyvyyttä.
Jos näin ei tehdä, miljoonien ihmisten on lähdettävä kodeistaan ja etsittävä parempia asuinpaikkoja.
Luulen, että syvä kriisi tulee. Jos emme ratkaise sitä rauhanomaisesti, luonnonvarojen omistamisesta tulee taistelua. Demokratia vaarantuu. Silloin fasismi voi näyttäytyä joillekin keinona hallita yhteiskuntaa, sanoo Taskinen.

Environment must be in focus
Climate changes have always been, species have disappeared and appeared, also us, Homo sapiens. According to Liisa Taskinen the cycle has been 150 000–100 000 years. Taskinen says that during the last 100 years we, the human beings have managed to cause changes that have affected the whole ecosystem, climate and living conditions worldwide.
Doctor, Activist and Politician
Liisa Taskinen is 68 years old medical doctor. Taskinen retired a year ago, after 40 years of hard and demanding but also very rewarding work.
Politics of the Concerned
Liisa Taskinen is concerned about the ongoing climate warming, environmental crisis and the future of our planet and the whole mankind. According to Taskinen there are many different groups, organisations, NGOs, political parties and individuals all over the world that are concerned.
Political Activism
Political activities of Liisa Taskinen started when she was 17. The Vietnam war raised a world-wide anti-war movement, also in Kotka where Taskinen was living. Taskinen is member of the Communist Party since 1971
Last year (2019) she was elected as a vice chairperson of the Communist Party of Finland. I still identify myself as an activist, trying to recreate oneself more as a politician, she says.
Everything relates to the environmental change
According to Taskinen solving this enormous problem – environmental crises must be in focus, the starting point, whatever we do or say. There are also climate change denials. Taskinen would not waist time talking to the fanatic denialists, suspects might listen.
Decisions at all levels
In Finland there are people and political forces that say that we in Finland have already done enough against global warming and for solving environmental crises, and now it is time for the big powers to act.
I think that decisions must be done on all levels. A private person can decide to eat less meat, stop buying cheap almost disposable top fashionable clothes made by underpaid women in Asia, avoid driving when not necessary, fly less, buy less, recycle as much as possible. It matters, says Taskinen.
Technology isn´t the whole answer
According to Taskinen new clean technology is a part of the solution, but not the whole answer, as so many hopefully think. Taskinen says that most of the greenhouse gas emissions comes from energy sector, about 70%.
Fair Solutions
Liisa Taskinen says that without solving environmental crises in a fair way there will not be peace, equality, democracy, eradicating global poverty.
We know that eradicating global poverty is also the best way to lower birth rate. If we can stop global warming and ecological crisis, we also can keep all inhabited areas habitable and cultivable and improve living conditions there. This is the fair way. If not, millions of people have to leave their homes and seek better places to live.
A deep crisis will come, I think. If it is not solved peacefully, there will be fighting over ownership of the nature resources. Democracy will be endangered. Fascism might be the means of control over people, says Taskinen.
