CPF, SYRIZA AND THE EUROPEAN LEFT PART OF THE SAME RADICAL LEFT-WING FAMILY

The Communist Party of Finland supports the demands of the Greek radical left for a cancellation of the Memorandum of Understanding cutting wages, pensions and public services, for the extension of democracy, for public control over the banking system and for a fair European solution to the debt problems.
Finland’s and the EU’s Greece-packages have generated mass unemployment, even famine. As a result of the crisis packages, Greece has been made into a testing ground for the social slaughter. Greece and all countries, which have been forcefully indebted, must be rid of EU austerity measures by the Troika and the capitalists. The Troika and the European political elite had no democratic legitimacy to enchain Greece in an impossible debt. The Greek rescue packages had as an aim to assist the international financial markets, business and banks.
The way out of the crisis involving the entire Euro zone lies through the rejection of austerity policies, the liberation from the diktat of the financial markets, the expansion of democracy and the safeguarding of people’s sovereignty. The Greek example shows that cuts in the public sector are not the solution.
The CPF calls on the Finnish parliamentary Left, the Social Democratic Party and the Left Alliance, to refrain from accepting and to denounce the austerity policy of the Katainen government vis-à-vis Greece and to adhere to the demand by the European Left and Syriza for debt restructuring and partial cancellation.
It is important from the point of view of Finnish workers that the felons cannot escape their responsibility. Banks and representatives of big business must pay for their own crisis. The people have already suffered too much.
