JP Väisänen demands EU to resign from politics led by the Israeli state and the United States

It is so true that we don´t change the world alone. Why should one even wish such a selfish thing? We say that we can make the change together with the others that want a change – YES we can change the world. I am happy to be among the progressive forces and beautiful people – I am happy to be among You the change makers.

EU HAS TO RESIGN ITS REACTIONARY POLITICS AND SUPPORT PEACE AND INDEPENDENT PALESTINIAN STATE
(9.-10.5.2014)
JP ( Juha-Pekka) Väisänen
Communist Party of Finland – chairman
European Left – member of Executive Board
In these harsh times of EU-austerity, global crises of financial capitalism and dumping of human values and nations basic rights to sovereignty, solidarity plays a more important role in future progressive politics. From this background we demand Finnish government and the European Union to resign from the reactionary global politics led by the Israeli state and the United States. European Union has to act in a progressive peace building initiative in the very necessary and just process of establishing an independent Palestinian state East Jerusalem as its capital.

Today Palestinian refugees for example living in camps in Lebanon are not any more allowed to travel to Finland with refugees travel documents. European Union requires a Passport that is almost impossible to get. This creates first of all humanitarian crises because families can´t be in touch together. Secondly this is also an Ngo problem. Palestinian specialists working with for instance in solidarity and development projects can´t participate and lecture in events outside the refugee camp. Current situation appears like a planned extension of Israeli occupation that limits the refugees’ human rights and free movement.
Today we live in multicultural Europe. Young people born in Palestinian families outside homeland need to be heard. Many of the young identify themselves as Finns, Scandinavians, Europeans and Palestinians. And they have all the right to do and feel so. We politicians we have to fight for the changes that make a double nationality and double passports possibility. We have to fight for the Palestinian families to have an independent homeland and the right to return home.

To end my short intervention I wish to point out one more important issue where I wish more international attention. According to Amnesty International, Finland is the world’s second largest supplier of missile technology to Israel. We have laws and regulations that prohibit arms trade with countries in war. European Union and its member states have to make a clear stop to the current situation. Advanced technology used in military purposes has to be considered as arms trade and therefore stopped. There must be other ways to find work for metalworkers’ and workers in the advantaged technology that instead of destroying our societies and planet will construct and progress it.
Long live Peace and international solidarity!
Long live Unity and Progress for an Independent State of Palestine!
